September 2013 - Excel Formulas

Angello's Distributing needed inventory numbers to be updated in real-time by 4 staff members.  Below are some examples of the formulas I created for that company.

When working for Coarc, I had to make adjustments to the following Excel formula.  It should be noted that I am completely self-taught.




The first step was to break down the formula so that I could 'read' it in English:





I then wrote out in English what I needed the final formula to 'say' and 'translated' those English sentences into Excel formulas.  (Click to enlarge.)

Publisher and Newsletter Writing

After creating a database for all patients, I then created templates for all admissions documents and nursing reports. 

By eliminating the need to type all admissions packets, I created time for a project which I had hoped would increase communication and build team cohesion throughout all the departments of Barnwell Nursing Home.  

I did all research, writing, editing and distribution.

Excel for Bank Reconciliation

I was given an assignment to reconcile bank statements for a client.  The final report was to appear as below:

The breakdown by expense category was created by utilizing the formula below.  The formula was adjusted for each category but applied to the same range.

=SUMIF($D$163:$D$263,"MD",$C$163:$C$263)+SUMIF($I$163:$I$263,"MD",$H$163:$H$263)

Information was transferred to the final report after being posted on this summary page. 

A sample formula:

=SUMIF($A$163:$A$263,"X",$C$163:$C$263)+SUMIF($A$163:$A$263,"E",$C$163:$C$263)

Additionally, there are no less than 10 hidden checkpoints which help the user locate transposition errors thereby increasing accuracy and decreasing time expenditure.
